Our history
Years of Journey
At Transhaven Seaside Haven, we envision a space where local and international guests will find continued support for collaborative endeavors that contribute to community upliftment.
Transhaven has been a home to thousands of underprivileged children for over 80 years. Established in 1932, Transhaven Seaside Fund has been a non-profit organization that has been dedicated to affording indigent children an educational excursion to the Transhaven Home (Seaside Haven), located in Treasure Beach, Wentworth. Now under new management, Transhaven Seaside Haven has transformed its mission to not only include the less fortunate through diverse arts, culture, and outreach developmental programmes – but also with the intention of welcoming guests from all over the world to gather, grow ideas and evolve to better understanding and contributing to our collective needs and rights.
Our Services
🏡 Accommodation
Once school dormitories, now transformed into a comfortable and affordable lodge-style stay, Transhaven offers a humble yet clean space for travelers, school groups, and event guests. Situated in the sweet suburbia of Durban South, our accommodation is ideal for both short and extended stays.
We can host up to 100 guests in mixed-room setups, including:
- 2 sleepers – singles & doubles
- 3 sleepers – singles
- 4 sleepers – double bunks
- 6 sleepers – double bunks
Various rooms have private en-suite bathrooms, while the majority utilize well-maintained communal facilities.
🎉 Events Venue
Overlooking the warm Indian Ocean, Transhaven is the perfect space to host weddings, birthday parties, memorial services, music festivals, reunions, corporate year-end functions, and more.
Our neat, well-serviced venues offer flexible event solutions, including full-service packages with catering and décor.
Venues:
1️⃣ Main Hall – Indoor (200 pax)
- Air-conditioned space with tables, chairs, and a large kitchen area with refrigeration access.
- 2️⃣ J. Schoonberg Venue – Outdoor (50 pax)
- A partially shaded area with paved and grassy sections, ideal for kids’ parties and small gatherings.
3️⃣ The Anderson Venue – Outdoor (150 pax) - A stunning wedding ceremony venue with ocean views, nature surrounds, and a simple stretch-tent setup.
